CNY 2013; Year of Snake

In just a glimpse of an eye, 15 days of Chinese New Year just ended like that T__T So it's probably time to write a post about my CNY this year before I procrastinate again. And also it's time to tune back from the holiday mood and get serious. March is going to be hectic, for sure!

I flew back with the sister few days earlier before CNY, on Wednesday to be exact. I'm always excited to fly back home, well who doesn't? Since I only get to fly back twice a year.
On the way to the airport, using the KLIA express.
Flying with MAS this time round.

Surprised to find there's in flight entertainment since it's just a domestic flight (((o(*゚▽゚*)o)))
Selca with the sister before the plane takes off.
So happy that they have Phineas and Ferb in the cartoon channels! (^▽^)

One of the must do when I'm in the plane, imagining myself on the fluffy cotton candy land.
Spent the next few days helping out at home and busy stuffing myself with food, as usual.

CNY DAY 1 (初一)
Kickstart the first day of CNY with Mee Sua (known as the noodles of longevity).

After breakfast, we have this annual family tradition where my siblings and I have to bai nian (拜年) with our parents. Basically wishing them with auspicious proverbs and yayy angpau na lai :DDD

Then off we go to Miri to meet the grandpapa and relatives.

Checked in this new hotel, Imperial Palace Hotel that looks pretty fancy.

Papa Teo and us (ʃƪ´⌣`)
My aunty must have accidentally inserted an extra $10 in my angpau muahaha
Since I didn't get to go for manicure before CNY, I painted on my own and I named them Goldilocks x Little Red Riding Hood
Love my mum's outfit so I insisted to take a photo with her HEH

Angpaus on the first day of CNY, huaaaaat arh!
First day of CNY was pretty much spent on gathering and visiting my extended family. I just realised that I hardly took any photos with my camera ever since I got myself my new phone. So most of the photos are either taken with my phone or from my instagram HEH

The rest are the photos I've taken during the other days of CNY, in random order LOL
What is CNY without dong dong chiang, right?

More gathering with the extended family on the 2nd day of CNY.

Mandarin oranges, CNY snacks and our Sarawak's famous kek lapis :D

My fave CNY snacks has got to be this kuih momo :9
It melts as you pop it into your mouth, can't stop eating once I start eating them LOLOL
I even had my mum to get a container of kuih momo, JUST FOR ME.
Harrrro Megan! (˘⌣˘)ε˘)
Dinner on the 2nd day of CNY!
Dimsum breakie on 3rd day of CNY @ Han's Palace.

Fooooooood.
and more fooood. I'm always well fed whenever I'm home, thank you Daddy and Mummy (':

Forget about the calories, I don't even dare to see how much cholesterol I've gained from all these seafood.

Besides the piano, Megan seems to pick up a new hobby. Serenading us with the recoder HAHAHA
She would be playing the piano then plays recorder minutes later like she's having a musical show.
And of course, CNY would be the best time to catch up with the high school mates cause that's when everyone is back home!

Us, girls at our annual bai nian gathering (:

Woots everyone's #OOTD in one shot!

The cutest angpow packet I've received this year, don't you think? :3

Managed to catch up with Faiznur as well on the day before I left; it's been like 2 years since we last met.

Speaking of lou sang, I only had one this year with the ze classmates on the 12th day of CNY, which is also Jih Yen's birthday.

Sushi Zanmai's Salmon Sashimi Yee Sang (L) @ RM23.80
I think I prefer Japanese style Yee Sang rather than the Chinese one.

Louuuuuuuuuu ah. Louuu for a better year ahead, lou that everyone pass year 3. 一本万利!
Since it's known as the prosperity toss, of course the higher you toss, the BETTER!

The bunch and I, so grateful to have them in my uni life (:
Last but not least, my #OOTDs during CNY!
These are the few days out of the 15 days that I bother to dress up :P
If you realise, I've been wearing the same studded flats in most of my OOTDs cause it's just so comfy.
My current fave pair of flats from H&M kids heeeee

So that pretty much sums up my CNY this year, awesome as always. How was yours? Can't wait for CNY next year! The next minute you know, we will be galloping towards the Year of Horse soon!

P/S: Feel free to follow me on Instagram since I'm more active there for my latest updates, OOTDs or more vain photos of mine ( ´▽`)

Gong Hei Fatt Choy

It's that time of the year where it's all about the good food and angpows, and of course family bonding time too. To be honest, CNY is my favourite festive season of all(!) cause I get to be home, clad in brand new clothes and reunite with my extended family as well.
One of the tasks I enjoy doing before CNY; decorating the house (^~^)

Megan, helping out in the kitchen.

Massive fireworks just right in front of my house, so pretty! (≧∇≦)

Yes, I have an Instagram account now! Teehee I know I know I am a century late, but it's never too late to follow me for my latest updates HEH

Suki-Ya @ Paradigm Mall

Somehow, my 2013 just kickstarts today after submitting my assignment that I've been working hard for the past two weeks. Now that I'm kinda free (for the time being) I'll try my best to blog daily to clear my forever pending posts. There's still so much stuff happened back in 2012 that I've yet to blog T__T so do bear with me.

Back to the main topic, FOOD! Yes, I'm gonna blog about food today :3

On the fine Sunday before Christmas week, the sister and I celebrated her bf's birthday at Suki-Ya. It was my first time there so I was pretty excited since I've been hearing quite a number of good reviews about it. We were there early, around 11am since we didn't make any reservation.

Suki-Ya was born from the combination of specialized shops in Japan serving hot pot, shabu-shabu and sukiyaki. What's so special at Suki-Ya is that they serve FREE FLOW of freshly sliced meat; chicken, beef and lamb!

SUKI-YA; eat all you can sukiyaki and shabu shabu!
They have 4 different soup base to choose from namely Shabu Shabu, Miso, Sukiyaki and Kimuchi.
So you'll get to have 2 different soup base, so we chose Sukiyaki which is the soy sauce broth and Kimuchi, the spicy kimchi broth. I would totally recommend the Sukiyaki broth but not the kimuchi, it was kinda tasteless and not spicy enough.

Besides shabu-shabu, they do have ala-carte dishes which you order from the menu as well to complement your meal :D

Before you start eating, here's an instruction on how to enjoy delicious sukiyaki (:

Chili paste and soy sauce as condiments.

Their healthy vegetable bar filled with fresh greens, cherry tomatoes, tofu, sausages and mushrooms.

All of their ingredients are assured fresh that even I'm impressed! *double thumbs up

There's even dressing that you can have vegetable salad as appetizer prior to your shabu shabu sesh :D
There is cheeseeeeeeeeee in those sausages and round tofu! The square ones are seafood tofu.

Sliced chicken.

Refillable paper thin beef and lamb, too awesommmmmmme for words :9
Those eggs are not any ordinary eggs I tell you, they are premium pasteurised eggs :O
They have specially made dipping sauce available too.

Last but not least, the ice creams bar! :D
They have three flavours; roasted rice, chocolate and MY FAVE green tea.
They provide toppings and cones to go with your icecream too.
The fresh pasteurised egg is beaten raw and used as dipping sauce.
To enjoy, just dip your freshly cook meat into the egg.
Dipping ingredients into the egg can actually take away some heat from the meat before you eat it.
I'm never a fan of raw egg cause of the smell but I still pick up the courage and tried, surprisingly there is no smell at all. The meat still tasted the same and I don't find it any tastier if you dip it into the egg :P

Even the meat is undeniably fresh and we couldn't get enough of it. We refilled both the beef and lamb for 4 times!

Ooooooozing cheese from the tofu. Very sedap, y'know?  :3

Ending my meal with a cup of green tea ice cream topped with crushed peanuts YUMS
