Talent Corp Sector Focused Career Fair 2013

Last month, Talent Corp along with University Teknologi Mara (UiTM) organized a Sector Focus Career Fair (SFCF)  at  Dewan Seri Budiman UiTM Shah Alam to educate public particularly students on the choices of the career path available. There are actually 11 sectors namely Oil & Gas, Electronics & Electrical, IT, Telecommunication, Biotechnology, Finance, Accounting, Healthcare, Tourism, FMCG & Education. As for the SFCF UiTM, they were focusing on Shared Services and Outsourcing. The event was officiated by YB Senator Dato’ Sri Abdul Wahid bin Omar, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department.

The two-day event included Career Talks and Couch Corner Slot. Career Talks is a platform for the young generation to have an opportunity to interact with prominent industry leaders while the Couch Corner Slot was made for the visitors, especially students, to engage with the companies in a more relaxed environment.

SFCF UiTM is supported by more than 30 companies, including AIG, DHL, Electrolux, Frost & Sullivan, GlaxoSmithKline, HP, IBM, LaFarge, Sime Darby and PwC.

Dato’ Sri Wahid shared his thoughts that in order to achieve the vision of a transformed economy, the  “Malaysia’s socio-economic development has to progress in a strategic and sustainable manner. Among the measures that is neccesary to achieve this is comprehensive planning through formulating effective policies, developing programmes through outcome based approach, strengthening human capital towards elevating efficiency and professionalism, and establishing organisational capacities for effective services delivery. On the other hand, economic growth can be achieved through more efficient services delivery.

According to Johan Mahmood Merican, CEO of TalentCorp, the right quantity and quality of talent determines the success of our Economic Transformation Programme (ETP) to support Malaysia’s priority sectors to improve the value chain and continue growing. Malaysia certainly has a strong pipeline of young talent.

The SFCF is really beneficial as it creates opportunity for graduates to meet with CEOs and senior HR representatives of participating companies, while providing a platform for companies to scout for potential talent from universities in Malaysia. Several critical industries are in need of top talent, and the undergraduates are able to use this career fair to understand better about these developing sectors in Malaysia. The companies also have the opportunity to educate the public about industry developments, sectoral branding and increase understanding of the SSO sector.

I personally think that they should have more career fairs like this in most of the universities countrywide in years to come in order to enhance the knowledge and expertise of the next generation of talents in all fields of study.

For further details on TalentCorp and SFCF, you can always check out www.talentcorp.com.my or www.facebook.com/SectorFocusedCareerFairSFCF.

GAB Oktoberfest Malaysia 2013

Wakey wakey, people cause September has come to an end! *cues Wakes Me Up when September Ends in the background* We have Arthur's Day last week, so you know what comes next? Yes, it's Ocktoberfest baby cause we're now in the month of October *throws mugs of beer up in the air*

Now first, lemme share with you how Oktoberfest actually comes about. This celebration initially started as wedding celebration in 1810 to commemorate the union between Crown Prince Ludwig (who later became King Ludwig I) and Princess Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen at Theresienwiese (translated as Therese's meadow / field) – it is for this reason that Oktoberfest is referred to by Germans as ‘die Wiesn’ or ‘the field’ Through the years, Oktoberfest celebrations have had various elements and activities, including horse races, street parades (in traditional costumes), live music, dancing and of course the appreciation of authentic Munich-brewed beer.

Currently, Oktoberfest is celebrated globally with almost 7 million visitors consuming over 7 million litres of beer and more than half a million chickens throughout the celebration (based on 2011 figures), which lasts between 16 – 18 days from the middle of September to the first Sunday of October. 4.

For this year's Oktoberfest, this festival will run from 21 September 2013 to October 6 2013 which is a total of 16 days of culture, cuisine and beers!

Like every other year, Guinness Anchor Berhad (GAB), the leading beer and stout company in Malaysia will be celebrating the iconic German Oktoberfest this month! Beer drinkers with be gifted with a limited edition 1 liter Ceramic Oktoberfest Mug when they enjoy GAB’s iconic brews. Drinkers can celebrate Oktoberfest with a series of themed parties across the country throughout this month. There's more to come, so do anticipate evenings of good food from around the globe, heaps of fun with interesting contests, promotions and activities. And of course, how can we forget the beers, GAB’s selection of award-winning beers including Tiger, Guinness, Heineken and the official Paulaner Oktoberfest Bier, specially brewed  for the Oktoberfest season. Speaking of Paulaner, it is the youngest Oktoberfest beer and it is a lager instead of a wheat beer like the rest of the Paulaner range. Not just that, you will be able to get the special edition Oktoberfest Mug with a limited edition metal lid at these events, so be sure to drop by early to reserve yours (;

For more information, hop over to Oktoberfest Malaysia Facebook Page for more recent updates on fun events and exciting promotions!

So are you ready to get drunk celebrate?! Cheers to the Oktoberfest, guys!

I guess nowadays, the two things that people couldn't live without would be their smartphones and the internet. True much? I'm not gonna deny that fact that I'm one of those people too. But what do you usually do with your smartphones besides being active on social media like Twitter, Facebook or Instagram? I'm not really a game person but I do have games in my phone to play when I'm bored. I will also have movies or few episodes of drama in my phone too for me to kill time especially when I'm flying home. Blincon Elegance Cutie Violet x GlassesOnline.com

Ever since I moved to KL for studies few years back, I've started to purchase my contact lens online cause it's way more convenient and cheaper in fact than buying it directly from the retail store. The only downside would be the availability, sometimes they don't have your preferred colour or your power. Recently, I've stumbled across this new online site, Glasses Online that sell not only contact lens but also glasses and even sunnies! Well if you haven't heard of them, Glasses Online is Malaysia's first online glasses store that offer a wide array of high quality prescription eyeglasses, frames, contact lenses and branded sunglasses for both men and women.

The perks of buying from Glasses Online is that you get;
  • FREE shipping nationwide (as well as Singapore and Hong Kong)
  • FREE 30 days return policy
  • Lowest Price Guarantee
  • 100% Genuine Brand
It's really difficult to choose a brand when you're spoiled with so many choices so I settled with Blincon Cutie Elegance Violet. I've tried Blincon once back in high school but I had to opt for black colour that time cause school doesn't  allow coloured lens which is why I decided to tried violet this time round. Violet and grey are the most common colours that I will go for when it comes to contact lens. I placed my order it on Friday and it reached my doorstep on Monday, speaking of efficiency huh? Probably can save you from a last minute contact lens crisis too :P
It's a quarterly disposable lens with 14mm of diameter, which is just nice (:

The aftermath you asked? Lovin' it!
Cause the design looks really natural and see how it adds the sparkle to my eyes to make it alluring effortlessly (; The colour may not be that obvious under indoor lightning but I'm totally cool with it. Plus it's really comfortable to wear and it lasted me at least 7 hours on my first wear without a slight feeling of dryness or discomfort.

Under natural sunlight ☼
Unintentional wink on the right pic cause my hair was poking my eyes and I pressed the snap button :P

That's not just it, good news to my readers! Now you can enjoy a RM20 discount for purchases above RM100 (which I still think it's affordable and reasonable) by just entering the gift code: GOjellybeans20. You know they say sharing is caring (: Valid till end of this month, so don't miss out this offer and make good use of it!

For more details you can visit them at their official website as well as Facebook

Now you can kiss sleepy and dull looking eyes goodbye :*

Joblogy makes job hunting now easier!

Oh heyyyy!

Sorry again for the lack of updates since early July cause I am currently busy with my part time job, which is kind of a blessing in disguise after lazing at home for the past one month. The internet at home isn't working lately so I couldn't imagine how am I gonna spend my day at home if I am not working. Well, the main point of this post is not about my part time job anyway.

Remember the post I blogged about a home tuition website that enables you to find private tutors or jobs as tutors as well? Ring any bells? The owner has come up with a new website, http://www.joblogy.com/ to search for part time jobs! Isn't that great? Cause I guess a lot of college or uni students nowadays would work part time if they can manage their time well for extra pocket money. It's really important to find reliable websites to search for jobs as well as you don't want to end up getting conned.
This is how the website looks like with a cute pink mascot. I like how it's simple and user friendly (:
So as you can see, it doesn't just provide you the opportunity for part time jobs but you can search for full time, intern jobs as well as contract and freelance jobs!

The easiest way to search for jobs is probably by location first, so you can type out the location that you are in for example part time job in Kuala Lumpur or Penang. Besides location, you can also search for jobs according to its type, so you can just click the Jobs tab on top
... and it will lead you to this page (: Everything is well organised. The company, job title and description, type of job and salary is listed as well.
Though the website is still relatively new, there are already a number of different jobs available ranging from event crews, admin clerk to programming jobs. Hopefully, there will be more jobs opportunity available in months or years to come.

Nowadays, you can log in to most websites by connecting it to your personal Facebook account, well you can do just the same with Joblogy too. Once you've logged in with your Facebook account, you'll be able to use this interesting feature whereby you can see if your friends working or worked before in some of those companies in the job list. I decided to try out the feature and look whom I've found HEHE

I guess that's pretty much it about Joblogy, there is definitely room for improvement in terms of job database.  Hope you guys find this post informative and helpful especially those who are currently on semester break and wanting to find jobs :P Feel free to check the website out!

And not to forget who those who are in Singaland, they are finding for private tutors for home tuition too :D

Till then, happy job finding y'all!

Brown is the new black!

When I say brown, what would be the first thing that come through your mind? Chocolate? Brownies?  Potato? Chocolate ice cream?! Since I'm a foodie, thus most of the things I can relate to is food :P

Little did we realise that most of the things, even the little things around us are actually brown in colour. Even the trees and the sand at the beach, isn't it? Since I'm currently in a eat clean diet, I noticed that most healthy food comes in brown too, putting the greens aside HEH To list a few, brown sugar, wheat bread, mixed nuts and brown rice. Not to forget, my fave peanut butter as well.
Source: Google

Even when it comes to accessories and cosmetics, normally my first choice would be brown cause it's easier to match with my outfit and never goes out of trend. Plus, it gives people a more approachable and friendly vibe. Don't you think? Recently, I've won a Kiss Me Mascara in lovely brown from a blog giveaway and I can't wait to try it out.
Brown hair, brown contact lens and if you look harder, I had glittery brown eyeshadows on too! *winks*
Since all the good things comes in brown, Samsung has limited edition Note II that comes in brown too and it's not any typical brown, it's AMBER BROWN! If you're a fan of brown, well I'm sure you won't want to miss this out. Besides, not everyone owns a brown phone you see.
Unlike the previous Pastel Pink and Ruby Red which is more favorable towards the female smartphones users, this amber brown is suitable for both male and female :D
Glossy brown with a hint of wood texture; oh so warm and elegant.
If you were to say that brown is dull and boring, well I beg to differ cause brown has always been the colour of physical comfort, simplicity and quality.

To know more about this sleek Amber Brown Samsung Note II, just hop on to their website or FB page  for more details or you can just visit the nearest Samsung retail outlets to experience it yourself. And oh, don't forget to check out this video by BryanLimTV too, about a genuine and timeless friendship just like the Amber Brown Samsung Note II (:

BrownPeace out!☮

Samsung Galaxy S4; Your New Life Companion

The highlight last week was definitely the arrival of the almighty NEW Samsung Galaxy S4, one of the anticipated phone in 2013! Wait no more guys, cause it's finally here in town.

Their official launch was held last Saturday at a few venues namely Sunway Pyramid, The Gardens, Berjaya Times Square as well as Low Yat Plaza. This time round, their launch was somewhat different, less formal as they are doing it the carnival style and touring around town so that the public can join in the fun too. Sounds interesting isn't it? It sure was an eventful and busy morning for everyone :D

The launch was kickstarted at the first venue, Sunway Pyramid.
Spotted among the crowd of people was our very own local celebrities Awal Ashaari and Liyana Jasmay at the launch. I was hoping to bump into them so that I can take a photo of them but oh well (:

The troupe of entertainers of the day! Probably not a good idea for those who are coulrophobia :P

The fun then continued with a flashmob performance at Berjaya Times Square! *dancing to the music*

The colourful parade then reached for the final destination for its great launch at the LowYat Plaza's Samsung Outlet.

Energetic dance crews in suit and cute little blue bows yawwww 8)

Besides the flashmob and dance performance, there's also a performance by the Chiya-leaders!

Plenty of balloons (reminds me of the movie UP) and weeeeee confetti, a scene you won't wanna miss!

Representatives from Samsung that officiate the launch, presenting you the NEW Samsung Galaxy S4 :D

There's even a Samsung Galaxy S4 truck, jommmm let's check in what's inside :D

So that's pretty much about the launch. All photo of the launch are courtesy of Samsung Mobile Malaysia unless stated otherwise. I guess most of you are really excited to know more about the phone! Even most of my friends and classmates asked me about the phone. Let's move on to the phone, shall we?
I dropped by Garden's Samsung Outlet later that day to check out the phone and there was a continuous crowd of people there to check out the new phone too, well who wouldn't be excited right?

Ohhh mai, I can finally lay on my hands on youuuuヽ(*≧ω≦)ノ
My new life companion, perhaps? Cause I'm lovin' it already!
S4 is now available is black and white, wonder if they will come up with more colours like S3 in the future. How bout a pink and red S4 too? ⊙ω⊙
Comparison between my S3; it quite obvious that the display is much improved and bigger now despite the same physical size. With the 5 inch Full HD Super AMOLED (1920 x 1080) display, I wouldn't deny that the display is much sharper and brighter. Vast improvement indeed (;

The sleek and slim design (only 7.9mm thick) is definitely the feature that got me hooked. My S3 is light to me but I must say S4 is even lighter!

On display, is also an array of colourful covers to go with the new Samsung Galaxy S4.

Being a typical girl, first thing that I test would be the camera for sure! The camera on the Galaxy S4 is now 13 megapixels (up from 8mp on the Galaxy S3) on the rear and 2 megapixels on the front.
On the right is the new feature, dubbed Dual Camera that allows the front and rear cameras to be used at the same time. This feature works in photo and video mode, and users can choose from a number of presets, including shaped vignettes, side-by-side mode and a postage-stamp look. It works in video calling as well, which I reckon this feature will come in more handy compared to photo and video mode.
While on the left is just me trying out the front camera with the beauty face mode(^ω^)

In addition to the dual camera, there are some really neat new photo-taking modes as you can see and cool ones like drama, sound & shot mode, eraser shot and animation shot. I wish I can have a S4 on my own to try out all these different modes!

Good news for the fitness junkies! Being said a life compainion, the new Galaxy S4 cares for your health and lifestyle too. Another feature called the S Health keeps users up-to-date with health and wellbeing information through its sensors which monitors health and surroundings. Also, users can easily check their health conditions using food diary, exercise diary and sleep monitor to stay fit and healthy.
Introducing Air Gesture, a new feature where users can change the music track, scroll up and down a web page, or even accept a call simply with a wave of the hand, creating a new touchless experience with the GALAXY S4. Isn't that cool? *waves* It even works with gloves on which is really useful for those who are staying in countries that has winter season. Well, I experienced it myself during a trip to Genting SnowWorld, since S3 couldn't work with gloves on, I had to take photos with my freezing cold hands.
Another new feature would be the Samsung Smart Scroll that tracks eyesight movement to scroll up and down webpages by tilting the device, allowing for effortless browsing and navigation. Seems pretty cool too, but probably not everyone would find it practical though. Well, there's also Samsung Smart Pause feature that tracks eye movement to pause a video when the user looks away before resuming once their attention returns to the screen.
If I were to continue talking about how good this phone is, well I guess it's gonna be a long winding post. But I would suggest you to head to the nearest Samsung outlets to feel check it out yourself how awesome it is. One thing for sure, it's definitely better in a significant number of ways. Interested in getting it as your new life companion? This sexy phone my friend is priced at RM2,199, available with telco plans too. Heard that it's SOLD OUT on the launching day itself at Low Yat, so hestitate no more! Get the new Samsung Galaxy S4 for a richer, simpler and fuller life!

Check out their Facebook and Twitter page for more details.
