Did you know there is this new mural painting in Penang? Well, neither do I until Jfook posted a photo of it on Instagram yesterday. So if you followed me on
Instagram, you've would have seen it too HEH This mural painting was drawn by a local artist, Louis Gan who is also the one that drew the "Brother and Sister on a Swing" mural which I previously blogged about too
HERE. I would say it's quite obscure especially when you're in the car cause it's opposite the way you're heading, geddit?
Drawn on the wall of
Pinang's Pinang, an art center on Kinta Lane, this "Nostalgic Meal Order" mural depicts a young Nyonya maiden receiving by basket a meal of noodles from the hawker on the street below. A scene that brought us back to the early 20th century, when upper-crust Nyonyas lived cloistered from public view, and conducted their meal shopping via baskets in which they place the cash. The hawker places the meal - usually wantan mee or Hokkien mee - into the basket along with the change —

Even the tiniest feature fascinates me, so detailed and beautifully portrayed.
